Avanade outreach programme spotlights careers in tech

  • Posted on March 5, 2014

Do young people have the wrong idea of what it’s like to work in a technology role? Maybe they just haven’t had the opportunity to get a peek at what it could be like working at a technology company like Avanade. We feel that there are some negative impressions out there and we want to change that with our Outreach Programme.

The Avanade Outreach Programme helps to break down stereotypes of technology workers and spotlights the many careers opportunities available. It also identifies the variety of roles that make up the technology industry, which are quite vast. We want to get young people excited about the prospect of a great career in technology and how they can start to make plans now in order to be successful.

Avanade is currently working with a number of schools and colleges, and The Prince’s Trust, offering internships, work experience programs, and mentoring opportunities for young people that have a passion for technology.

In addition, Avanade UK is introducing young people from all backgrounds to the world of IT to give them a transparent, insightful and honest education into this industry. It’s part of our way to address the IT skills gap in the UK and emphasise Avanade’s commitment to Diversity and Inclusion, which makes good business sense.

Take a look at the video below that features some of the young people involved in the programme, as well as some of our Avanade interns. We would also like to thank the Avanade employees involved in this amazing outreach programme that is helping young people understand what a career in technology can bring them.
