ABB Turbocharging engineers use mixed reality and Remote Assist to solve problems in the field
Business Situation
When an ABB Turbocharger needs attention, it takes a specialised engineer to provide support. With only 700 of these engineers across the globe, it's important that each has the most up-to-date training.
Using innovation, Avanade is helping ABB Turbocharging overcome its business and training challenges by exploring the use of new, game-changing technologies. We first introduced the company to Microsoft’s HoloLens 2 – an immersive mixed reality device that combines cloud and AI services.
The goal is to help ABB Turbocharging ensure that the right skills are with the right people, at the right time, in the right place. By making real-time intelligence and accelerated decision-making a part of employees’ daily operations, this technology can:
- Help reduce downtime, speed time to repair, improve service-level agreement compliance rates and increase productivity.
- Enable employees to learn, communicate and collaborate more effectively.
- Provide service engineers with access to company-specific guides from Microsoft Dynamics 365, which provide photos, videos, holograms and virtual connections to personalize training and make it more interactive.
In addition, step-by-step instructions inform engineers of the tools and parts they need to solve issues and how to use them. If additional support is needed while in the field, the user can immediately connect to an expert and collaborate using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, which is accessible on the same HoloLens headset.
