During the buying process, customers can now see available products and track their orders through to delivery for an improved experience, while production employees get a holistic view of operations, including warehouse and transportation logistics. How? It all started with an upgrade to the company’s legacy ERP platform.
Business Situation
ROM offers the perfect, customised sofa for any space. Having a variety of products to choose from requires a high degree of flexibility. Because everything is made to order and customers expect their sofa within eight weeks, employees need to know if products – including a certain type of leather from a specific supplier, for example – are available. If there is going to be a delay at any step of the manufacturing or delivery process, they need to be able to communicate that to customers immediately. To achieve full visibility across the supply chain and improve the customer experience, leaders identified three pillars for upgrading ROM’s legacy ERP system: Efficiency, automation and cloud-first.
Solution
ROM chose Microsoft Dynamics 365 to centralise data, automate processes and upgrade overall operational efficiency and partnered with Avanade to implement the solution. The platform allows for real-time data synchronisation across departments and locations, ensuring employees have up-to-date information.
Once a customer places an order using the iROM app, they receive an automated confirmation that includes product details, descriptions and pictures. They also receive a link that shows order status for immediate insights. ROM’s warehouse facility employees also benefit from an integrated warehouse and transportation management application, built using Microsoft Power Apps. They receive orders through the platform, which helps facilitate sales and operations planning to schedule production around when products will be arriving. As a result, pre-production planning can be done three times faster.
