The team at Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd. wants to create a sustainable, resources-recycling community for a brighter future. To provide customers with new added value, they’re focused on reforming internal operations by strengthening IT infrastructure and security, rebuilding and modernizing data infrastructure, deploying grassroots digital experiences (DX) using low-code, RPA and other technologies, and utilizing and analyzing data. Our work together has provided training for an expanded DX community, where employees can communicate information and get interested in DX activities. This has led to fewer paper-based operations at production sites, the development of a low-code business application to achieve digitization and a paperless inventory-taking process.

Business Situation

Yanmar Holdings launched community activities where users can disseminate information, discuss stumbling blocks with each other and exchange information about applications developed and used within the company. Since the starting point for citizen development is streamlining and optimizing processes, it was essential to foster a culture in which people on the frontlines can solve their own problems and exchange their operations. Promoting community activities and the varying cultures throughout the company’s Japanese and overseas operations was a challenge.

Together with company leaders, we determined employee training would help improve their skills and used our Avanade Flexible Support solution for customized training on the Microsoft Power Platform. This solution was attractive because the basic functionalities were available with the company’s existing Microsoft licenses. We conducted training for beginners and intermediate users on Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate, beginner-level training on Microsoft Power BI and additional training for overseas employees.
