Business Situation

Cabot Microelectronics Corporation (CMC) is a global manufacturer and supplier of chemical mechanical planarisation products for the semiconductor industry with a mission to provide customers with innovative solutions at speed. However, its legacy workplace platform complicated business processes. Employees found it difficult to collaborate and for years, had to store files in their inboxes and were challenged with version control issues.

To improve workflow management, CMC recently invested in Microsoft Office 365. It soon realised that it also needed an adoption strategy for its employees to realise the benefits of the technology’s full capabilities.

Solution

Initially engaged to deploy additional Office 365 functionalities for file sharing, Avanade challenged CMC to provide a modern workplace experience in addition to developing a roadmap for deploying broader Office 365 capabilities. We helped the company create an organisational change management model that accelerates employee adoption of new services. Using design-thinking techniques and technology alignment, the company is building high-value business processes and establishing collaborative workspaces. Employees now have one location to securely access information from anywhere, anytime, on any authorised device.
